Marius's Emporium

Marius is a retired soldier from the Southlands. Now, he and his family sell hot food from a shop by the side of the Road of Roaming, which stays open late at night to take advantage of the revellers who pass it on their way home.

Food is cheap and filling. Mostly it is made up of some kind of stodge covered with a spicy sauce. Popular with the students at the University, locals from the western suburbs and travellers on the Road of Roaming, it is generally considered to be one of the shadier eating establishments in the environs of the Silent City. However, it is relatively cheap so no-one minds too much about the risk of a dodgy plate of stodge-and-sauce. Whether the food is bad enough to poison a person is difficult to determine anyway, as patrons are rarely sober. It's easy to blame Marius's food when really it's the eight pints of Skullbasher that have upset the patrons' delicate constitutions.

The Nigh Bar

So called for its nearness to the University and the West Road (the Road of Roaming), the Nigh Bar is a haven for the sort of people that adventurers thrive on - people with a story to tell, or who want something doing without too many legal questions being asked.

The PCs are likely to run into any rumours they may wish for here, about local features (the Whispering Woods, the Demon Fort, etc) or local people (Marius, the Valerians etc) as well as other persons of note or places of interest further away. Due to its location, the tavern picks up a lot of custom from travellers so expect stories of far-off places too.
